Japan, day 9: Kobe

On Friday, we left Kyoto and took a train to Kobe. There, we started by taking a Ropeway to the Nunobiki Herb Gardens. 

From the garden at the top station, we walked down, by the dam and waterfalls, with a couple of refueling stops along the way. 

Then we went to see the Ikuta and Inari shrines...

... and finally took a shuttle bus to our hotel, located on a pier near Meriken Park. 

Something weird was happening there, some event, which closed all the roads, booked up all the restaurants (we wanted to have dinner at the Steakhouse, on the 14th floor of our own hotel - no luck!) - and even devoured all the good pastries at the rooftop bar of our hotel (where we had a makeshift dinner of salad and pasta). 

So, no Kobe beef in Kobe... still, all was forgiven when they started a fireworks show literally in front of our balcony!
