Virginia Vacation, Part 4: From Chincoteague to Virginia Beach

After a full day of various wildlife viewing, sadly, it was time for us to say goodbye to Chincoteague and drive south to Virginia Beach.

We got to drive the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel at sunset, accompanied by a flock of pelicans.

This is the bridge part...

... still the bridge part...

... an unintended photo of the photographer :) ...

... and this is the tunnel part.

This is our second hotel, Beach Quarters Resort in Virginia Beach. No nonsense about that one: not only did we get an oceanfront balcony, it's a two-room suite with a double balcony! (On the 10th floor, circled in red.) In this suite, we stayed 8 nights - very unusual for our vacation style - but this was so worth it! We saw all kinds of birds, ships, and even dolphins from our balcony, plus there was a gorgeous sunrise show almost every morning.

First morning, sunrise.

Second morning - this also happens to be the day when tropical storm Michael hit Virginia Beach - so you can see sheets of rain already coming down where I stand on the balcony, while an attempt at sunrise is kind of happening out there, near the horizon... that's all we got that day.

Third morning, sunrise.

Fourth morning, sunrise.

Fifth morning, sunrise.

Sixth morning, sunrise.

Seventh morning, sunrise.

Eighth morning, sunrise - this happened to be a rather cloudy day, so that's all we got...  and that was also our last morning at Virginia Beach.
