Early in the morning, we boarded the Denali Star train from Anchorage to Denali. We traveled Gold Star class, which means we were sitting on the top floor, in a glass-domed carriage.
The trip took about 7 hours, we were served breakfast and lunch, and the views were spectacular!
The day was sunny and clear, so we even managed to see Mount Denali from the train, which happens about 30% of the time. (In the second photo, taken from the open platform at the end of the car for clarity, Mount Denali is the tallest mountain on the right.)
The last photos of the day are from our next hotel, Crow Nest Cabins - we are very glad that we stayed there and not in one of the cruise-chain lodges.
