We started by hiking the Savage River Loop trail in Denali park. You can take free shuttle buses from the Visitor Center to get there. It was drizzling, so the hike was not as pleasant as it could have been otherwise...
... but still beautiful.
We then boarded a train to Fairbanks, also Gold Star.
The ride took 4 hours, and they gave us dinner on the train. Here are some of the views.
The most difficult part was getting from the train station to the car rental place at the airport. They make you check even small suitcases in Gold Star cars (there are no overhead bins because of the panoramic windows). Then our suitcases were in the last crate, which it took them 45 minutes (!) to deliver - and by then all the taxis were taken by those who got their luggage earlier... Anyway, we finally got our Toyota 4Runner...
... and checked into our hotel, Best Western Pioneer Park.
We only stayed there for one night, but I really liked it.
